Representing District 5 of Somerset County, Md.

Paul was born and raised in Crisfield, the son of the late Paul T. and Elsie “Snookie” Ward.  He graduated from Crisfield High School in 1960.  After graduating he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and spent four years as a Communications Specialist in the highly classified Intelligence Division, serving at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and the National Security Agency at Fort Meade, Maryland.

He is married to Mary Jean Landon Ward and had two sons, Paul Scott Ward and the late Matthew Jason Ward.

In 1969 he began a career in the banking industry where he worked for twenty seven years, while also graduating from the Maryland Banking School.  After retiring from Peninsula Bank, Paul started his own business as a Locksmith which he has owned and operated for the past thirteen years.

He has been active in his church, the Marine Corps League, and Toys For Tots, as well as a volunteer fireman for thirty nine years in the Crisfield Fire Department.

Paul was first elected as a County Commissioner in 2002 and has been serving Somerset County for five years.  He represents District Five which covers the City of Crisfield and surrounding areas, as well as the three communities on Smith Island.
