With the exception of four primitive sites on the island, the bulk of camping at Janes Island is on the mainland.  The island portion of the park – Janes Island – includes over 2,900 acres of salt marsh, over 30 miles of water trails, and miles of isolated pristine beaches. Although people have harvested the resources of the island for thousands of years, today the island is wild and seemingly untouched. A haven for birds, fish, crabs, and other saltmarsh dwellers.

Beautiful campsite, a bit open and you can see through the other neighbor campers but who cares you are still camping. Its always fun camping, especially it is close to a Canal which people go kayaking/ boating. Like you walk a few feet and it’s there.
Bathroom is always cleaned. Very good accommodation but it is on the far side of Maryland. It was almost 4 hours away from us. But i would like to stay here much longer than 3 days so i can really enjoy it.

We love Vince and Nancy the camp hosts! We missed them this last visit, they had left a few days prior. Because of Vince’s warm hospitality, we return to camp at least once a year.

Nice location for a retreat! The 2nd story work room at the Doughterty Lodge comes complete with large tables and chairs. The bunks are comfy. BYO pillows and linens. Kitchen is well equipped.
