Janes Island State Park Trail System features seven water trails, all of which begin and end at the Janes Island State Park Marina and boat launch. The trails provide a wide variety of paddling experiences so there are options for all levels of expertise. Trail maps/guides are available from the MD DNR website for $3 and include information on trails, park amenities, camping, boating safety and regulations, and natural resources in the area. The trails range in length from 1.25 to 12.5 miles and include routes along the open waters of Tangier Sound, the Big and Little Annemessex Rivers as well as various creeks and marsh routes.

Very scenic place not too far from DC. The marsh is beautiful and the sunset is gorgeous. There is an observation tower where you can climb up. I rented a kayak here and it was pretty fun. The best part is there is no entry fee and you can park for free. Amazing hidden gem place if you live around the DC area and looking for an escape!

Janes Island State Park Campground is a very nicely maintained campground. We had a great view of the salt marsh across from the bulkhead on Daugherty Canal. Gorgeous sunsets. Went took out inflatable Kayaks out to the remote beach across the flatcap Basin and had a great time swimming in the lower Chesapeake bay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there, and will definitely return.
We took an easy 15 minute bike ride into Crisfield for Ice Cream at the Waters Edge Cafe, which can be enjoyed at the Gazebo on the Dock at the end of Main Street.

We just spent 4 nice days at Janes Island. The park is beautiful with the mature pine forest. The sites are very well kept and have lots of room, which gives that added layer of privacy. We stayed away from the waters edge, which was the less popular section but quieter. Unfortunately, this time of year 7/10 - 7/14, the bugs were pretty active. It was too warm for campfires and sitting out all day, but in the evening it was very pleasant. We will return as this is one of the nicer places to stay on this side or Maryland. I would only ask that they give us more room to get into the dump station, and there was one tree that made for a tight turn in loop B. We are in a 35' 5th wheel. The park is close to town, I think about a mile to Food Lion and a few from all the restaurants at the docks.

Thanks, Janes Island staff, for a nice stay.

Best site in loop B #73
