The Corbin Gallery and Studio proudly announces a celebration of the women’s right to vote and the ratification of the 19th amendment that occurred on August 18, 1920.
On Saturday, October 5 at 7:00PM, the film “Iron Jawed Angels” will be shown at Corbin Gallery and Studio. An arts education project in partnership with Lower Shore Performing Arts Company.
This historical drama, starring Hilary Swank and Francis O’Connor focuses on the American women’s suffrage movement during the 1910s. The film follows suffrage leaders Alice Paul and Lucy Burns as they use nonviolent strategies to revolutionize the American feminist movement and eventually gain women the right to vote.
Doors open at 6:30 pm
During intermission there will be a dramatic presentation of various perspectives from that time by Marcus Colasurdo, Ann Northam, and Kathryn Redden.
Following the movie there will be a post-screening discussion.
Refreshments will be served. This event is FREE.
