P-520 Wounded Warriors and Gold Star Families

Aug 28, 2022
11:00 am - 9:00 pm

11 AM to 9 PM on Saturday, August 27th – 10 AM to 4 PM on Sunday, August 28th
Spend a day on the waterfront! Join us for two days at Somers Cove Marina at 715 Broadway Ave in Crisfield as we honor and thank our Wounded Warriors and Gold Star Families. The P-520 will open for tours and host the opening ceremonies. The general public is invited to attend and help us thank both groups. Admission is free, but donations are always welcome. There will be a private luncheon at 11 AM for the guests of honor. Following that, the P-520 will resume tours. The weekend is all about the Wounded Warriors and Gold Star Families, with the P-520 as the backdrop for our appreciation. There will be activities and dock prizes throughout both Saturday and Sunday. There will be a 1940s hanger dance at the wooden pavilion inside Somers Cove from 7 to 9 PM. Music from the 40s will play under the pavilion and all are invited to come dance as well as come dressed from the period. A prize will be given out to the best dressed. Sunday morning colors will be presented at 8 AM aboard the P-520. The Elks club in Crisfield will host a brunch for the Wounded Warriors/Gold Star families beginning at 8:30 AM. Our crew will then be hosting a ceremony at 10 AM for those service men and women no longer with us, either killed in action or those that have passed away later in life. If you have a family member you would like to mention, or would like to speak on their behalf, let us know.
At 11 AM lunch will be served for the guests and at noon the P-520 will exit the marina to go out on a war patrol. We encourage all to come and watch at the city pier as the P-520 patrols the waters and conducts a weapons drill. The P-520 will return at 12:45 to the marina and load our guests of honor for a private cruise. On returning we will conduct closing ceremonies and close the event out by 4 PM. We are asking Wounded Warriors and Gold Star families to RSVP so we know how many to plan on.
If you would like to be a part of this event, contact me at the email address below. We also need help from businesses to assist with dock prizes and expenses. If you would like to have your business mentioned and come out and be a part of this great event, let us know through the email address. If you are a vendor and would like to possibly set up a tent, contact us below. The Crew of the P-520. lewis.palmer@louisvillenavalmuseuminc.org
