The museum was closed during normal hours today, so I called one of the people listed on the door who should be “happy to open the museum”.
They didn’t.
And the reason is “because of the weather yesterday, they didn’t think anyone would visit”.
It seems to me that they are just trying to find reasons not to come, even when their post on the door pretty much says open upon request even outside of normal hours.
The person who talked to me on the phone made it seem like they wanted to do something, but didn’t do anything useful at the end of the day.

It's unfortunate that there is no mention of my grandfather Captain Thompson Wallace of Deal Island who was one of the last Black Captains and owner of the Claude W Somers that unfortunately sank on March 4 1977 and killed everyone onboard, and was the captain of the Ida Mae for several years before that time.

It’s a great museum;need more information on the African American watermen. They knew of many of my relatives, but had no pictures!
