Tips for the Crab & Clam Bake
Come Hungry!
Our watermen work hard to provide the best quality food for our own town and the Crab & Clam Bake is no exception! Enjoy steamed & raw clams, steamed crabs galore, corn on the cob, fried fish, french fries and sweet potato fries, onion rings, watermelon, and more. Come hungry because it’s all-you-can-eat!
Reserve Your VIP Ticket
If you don’t want to stand in line, reserve your VIP ticket! Order soon and don’t miss out on the limited number of tickets. The VIP tent includes food runners, private bathrooms, a DJ, and dancing! Remember. All ticket sales are final and there are no refunds unless the event is canceled.
Drink Responsibly
Not only is the Tawes Crab & Clam Bake all-you-can-eat, but it’s also all-you-can-drink! Your ticket includes beverages like draft beer, ice-cold soda, and bottled water. That being said, please stay hydrated, drink responsibly, and have a designated driver for the event.
Pack Supplies
As lines get long at each of the food stations, it’s helpful to bring empty, flat plastic trays, aluminum baking pans, etc. to carry more than one or two items per trip. You’re welcome to bring along your own crab knife, extra paper towels, and wet wipes. No coolers or bags will be allowed in the general admission area.
Get There Early
With thousands of people coming to the event, lines start forming mid-morning when the gates open before food is served at 12 PM. Get there early and arrange a system with your group to each get one or two items and have a meeting spot. Plus, complimentary commemorative glasses and mallets (one per person) are available at the entrance gate while supplies last!
Bring the Whole Family
Bring the whole family plus all of your friends, coworkers, neighbors, etc. There’s plenty of food and fun for everyone to enjoy. Stick around for musical entertainment while you chow down on the best seafood in Maryland’s “crab capital”.
Are you excited yet? We can’t wait to see everyone and celebrate one of Somerset County’s great traditions at the J. Millard Tawes Crab & Clam Bake. Check out more fun events in town here in Somerset County, Maryland!
